Hurricane Katrina
Sunday, August 28th, 2005Katrina looks like a real monster at category five strength and with land fall at New Orleans in twenty-four hours or so. The storm is so wide that we are expected to get some storm surge and gusts up to category one strength here in the Pensacola area. We will stay here and don’t expect to put up storm shutters. Tomorrow is expected to be a very stormy day with a probable loss of power. After Katrina blows over, we will fire up our new generator and maybe buy a window air conditioner.
If Katrina shifts to the east, all bets are off.
The forecasters did very well with Hurricane Dennis, but Katrina seems to be less predictable. The reason, obviously, is that Katrina is a woman!
