Crunching Numbers May Keep Your Waist Trim - RealAge Tip of the DayStudies of the link between acute financial stress and physical health are clear: People who are constantly worried about financial problems experience depression, hypertension, insomnia, fatigue, ulcers, migraines, gastrointestinal upset, and weight gain.A smart first step: Get a grip on your day-to-day spending by creating a budget.

There’s an interesting spin!  Budgetting may help one to stay thin — unless, of course, it frees up more money for junk food.

Iraq war vs. invasion of America

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007

From OneNewsNow.com

More Americans killed by illegal aliens than Iraq war, study says
Illegal aliens are killing more Americans than the Iraq war, says a new report from Family Security Matters that estimates some 2,158 murders are committed every year by illegal aliens in the U.S.

This sure puts things into perspective! I like the way OneNewsNow.com uses the term “illegal aliens” rather than “undocumented immigrants” or “illegal immigrants.” To take it a step further, I agree with Neal Boortz that the people coming over our borders are invaders. They fit all three of Webster’s definitions. Why is it that our military can protect the borders of Iraq, but our government won’t protect our borders at home?

Happy birthday, Carolyn!

I love you, sweetheart!

Here are some things that happed on this special date from the History Channel’s This Day in History:

Inconvenient miracles

tiling the infinite plane: . . . a tumblelog . . .
Terrorists have killed 3000 Americans since 1990.

Abortionists have killed 4000 Americans . . .
. . . since yesterday.

It’s about perspective.

Wow. This really does give a stunning perspective, especially in light of my last post about the miracle baby. To think that tens of thousands of dollars were spent saving that baby while millions more just like her were murdered! All in the name of convenience.

Miracle baby!

Tiny Baby to Leave Florida Hospital - washingtonpost.com
MIAMI — A premature baby that doctors say spent less time in the womb than any other surviving infant is to be released from a Florida hospital Tuesday. Amillia Sonja Taylor was just 9 1/2 inches long and weighed less than 10 ounces when she was born Oct. 24. She was delivered 21 weeks and six days after conception. Full-term births come after 37 to 40 weeks.

This truly is amazing! To make it personal, it would be as if our third child, due June 3, had been born near the end of January! Check out the whole article with a picture showing the baby the same length as a ball point pen.

Happy half birthday to me!

FDA Warns Consumers Not to Eat Certain Jars of Peter Pan Peanut Butter and Great Value Peanut Butter
The Food and Drug Administration FDA is warning consumers not to eat certain jars of Peter Pan peanut butter or Great Value peanut butter due to risk of contamination with Salmonella Tennessee a bacterium that causes foodborne illness. The affected jars of Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter have a product code located on the lid of the jar that begins with the number “2111.” Both the Peter Pan and Great Value brands are manufactured in a single facility in Georgia by ConAgra. Great Value peanut butter made by other manufacturers is not affected. If consumers have any of this Peter Pan or Great Value brand peanut butter in their home that has been purchased since May 2006, they should discard it.

For the first time that I can remember, my family is involved in a product recall.  Oh boy, oh boy!

Yup.  We have a scarcely-touched jar of Great Value peanut buttter with “2111″ on the lid.  According to the ConAgra press release, none of their tests have indicated the presense of Salmonella in their peanut butter.  Who do I believe?  The FDA, who is just trying to protect me and is obviously infallable, or ConAgra — a giant corporation obsessed with profits regardless of health risks to consumers?  Hmmm.  Is this the same FDA that says not to eat cookie dough because of possible Salmonella poisoning from raw eggs?  I don’t follow that sage advice.  Licking beaters is a sacred rite of cookie making!

Well, I suppose we’ll toss the jar of creamed goobers, but mailing the lid to ConAgra for a refund sounds like too much hassel.  Perhaps Wal-Mart will refund our money.  They take anything back!

The History of Valentine’s Day

History.com has some interesting tidbits about Valentines. The Catholic church recognizes at least three saints named Valentine or Valentinus.  All three of these guys were martyred.  I guess that portends what may happen to modern men who fail to commemorate Valentines Day.  Like most holidays, the idea behind Valentine’s Day is nice, but it really boils down to a blatant attempt to separate people from their wallets — especially men.  Strangly, 85% of the 1 billion Valentine cards sold in the U.S. are bought by women.

Pigs Banned from TV Ads, Out of Respect for Muslims - China Connection: Laura Robertson Blog - CBN News
Although pigs have positive connotations for most Chinese, they are unclean and offensive to Muslims. Therefore, in an unusual move, CCTV, China’s state-run television network, banned all television ads featuring pigs as a way “to show respect to Islam.”

This is chilling proof that the Muslim terrorists are winning the war on terror. If we don’t develope some backbone, we might as well all convert to Islam now and get it over with.

Dear Abby on uExpress
DEAR ABBY: Please help me. My lover and I have been disagreeing lately and are considering couples counseling. However, he keeps insisting that we see the marriage counselor he and his wife are currently seeing.I want to make this relationship work, but I think its inappropriate to receive counseling from the same one that they are currently seeing. What do you think? — NEEDS THERAPY IN TEXAS

The concept of love in our depraved socieity is degraded beyond conventional recognition. We need more than therapy.  We need to know God’s true love!
