The National Hurricane Center is thrilled to have another hurricane to track as an interesting finish to a yawner of an Atlantic hurricane season. If Ida manages to push past the Yucatan Peninsula and make a showing in the Gulf of Mexico, that will be strange indeed!

Carolyn sends me pictures to brighten my day at work. Here Opal is sporting a flower behind her ear along with her trademark grin. She is about 7-1/2 months old.

The drive over Escambia Bay was especially pretty in the early morning hours last week. The moon was full and still shining while the sun rose behind me. The camera phone doesn’t capture it well, but if you squint and use your imagination, you can share the moment with me.

Monday morning as I started my daily commute, I noticed that my old friend had rolled over 190,000 miles.

Actually it’s soy topping, that’s not too bad.

We ate and played while Mama and Opal rested.

When the nurses brought Opal to our room on Wednesday, they had her wrapped up like an egg roll.
