Another attempt to restrict grassroots politics

In a previous post, I highlighted an attempt in the Senate to require reporting of political activities designed to prompt voters to contact their representatives in Congress. The Senate voted this legislation down. Now, there is another attempt to pass it in the House of Representatives. Call your representative and tell him to vote against H. R. 2093. See? That little sentence could get me into big trouble if H. R. 2093 becomes law and I fail to file the proper paper work!

The issue is so important that organizations from the Right and Left have united to write this letter to the House. It feels strange to be on the same side of an issue as the ACLU!

H. R. 2093 is yet another attempt by beltway insiders to disregard and limit the efforts of the voters to have a say in government. The elitists would rather sip the wine of big-money lobbies than sweat along side the voters and do the will of the people.

This amendment was killed in committee. Here’s an article.
